Hurricane Vince

It's official! I'm going down a storm in the US! Thanks to the marvellous Will Howat, I got to hear about Hurricane Vince. According to the www.livescience.com,

Hurricane Vince poses no immediate threat to the United States. In fact, by Monday morning it had degenerated into a tropical storm and was expected to become further disorganized.

Now that's the exactly sort of hurricane I'd choose for myself, if it was up to me, so I thought I'd write and thank the Met Office, just in case they had anything to do with it!

Hi there,

I've just heard the news that you and your chums in America have named a hurricane after me, Hurricane Vince! I understand that I was a tropical storm before but have just been upgraded! Brilliant, I feel so humbled!

My friend tells me that this because you're a big fan of mine and are loving all the work I do, and I must say the feeling is mutual! I love all your weather and climate stuff, especially the snow, I'm a big fan of snow!

I also understand that you're committed to constant innovation, so I'd like to offer my help, I've come up with a new weather situation. You know when it's raining very very lightly, I don't think rain is really the correct term for it, so I reckon we could call it "fain", as in fine rain! It works on so many levels and even works in sentences, "Don't forget your umbrella, it's faining outside".

I've checked and fain isn't in the dictionary so between the two of us, we could create history!!

To show how much of a fan of your work I am, I shall name a police force after you, from this day forward, some of the police working in London shall now be called the MET Police (I can't use MET Office Police as it sounds like your own personal police force, which it sadly isn't). Hopefully you're happy with this though and carry on the great work.
