My Adopted Squirrel

Ahhh, the lovely Raquel!

My mum adopted a red squirrel for me for Christmas last year, her name is Raquel and she lives on Brownsea Island. I've never actually spoken to her on the phone as I don't have her number (the squirrel that is, not my mum), so I thought I'd send her a letter to let her know how things are!

Hi Raquel,

It's your adopted father here, sorry I haven't been in touch, things have been quite busy lately and I haven't had a chance to write. How are things with you? Things in Twickenham are great, we've just painted the front room and are hoping to do some more decorating in the near future. If you want to come and visit sometime, you are more than welcome! We've got a little bed that you can use and I can try and get a little Xbox controller that'll fit your tiny hands, then we can both play Halo 2 together.

Also, guess what? I've gone and got myself a new motorbike! I've got rid of the scooter and upgraded to a Suzuki GS500E! I've got a little helmet for you to use, so when you come and visit (or when I head to see you), I can take you for a spin round the block!

I went to this little park last week and there were loads of grey squirrels there, I know they are "the enemy" (I hear they carry the deadly parapox virus that kills your kind), but I couldn't help saying hello to them. I had a long chat with a squirrel called Gerald who works for a local bank and he loved the sound of Brownsea Island, he told me that his cousin Robin lives there and asked me to pass on his regards.

Anyhow, I better go now, I hope you and your friends are all marvellous, and enclosed are some nuts for you and your buddies to enjoy.

Bye for now!

Vince.

If you'd like to adopt a Red Squirrel - they're in danger of dying out you know - then you can get a ton of information from the
Dorset Wildlife Trust. Gone on! You know you want to!

Terms and conditions apply. Squirrels may go up as well as down. Your squirrel is at risk if you do not keep up with nut payments. Or maybe I just made all that up.
